Chapter 6-Taken Care Of

The next morning I woke up feeling refreshed.  It was nice to sleep in a comfortable bed again.  After showering and getting dressed, I went downstairs to fix me some breakfast.  Once I finished eating and cleaning up I decided to head to the bank.  I couldn't help but smile when I stepped into the garage.
A white convertible Audi TT.  The one thing I wanted as teen as much as Mulo.  He really did know a lot.  "Oh crap." I mumbled to myself.  I realized I had no idea where I was going.  I had been getting around using taxis.  GPS system, I should have know. "Thank goodness." I said out loud and then headed towards the bank.
When I arrived at the bank, I was greeted by a cute little receptionist. "May I help you?"
"Yes, Mr. Clark please."
"Is he expecting you?"
"Um...I think so, my name is Amari Vinson."
"Oh, yes Ms. Vinson, please have a seat and I will let him know you are here right away."
No one had ever reacted with such urgency by the mention of my name before.  I went to have a seat as the young woman walked off towards an office.
Moments later I was greeted by an older gentleman.  "Ms. Vinson, I'm Mr. Clark this way please."

I got up and followed him into his office.
"Here are your checks and bank card." He said sliding some items across the desk towards me.  "As well as the paperwork for the house."

He continued speaking as I started looking through the items I just received.  "You have a current balance of $70,000, but if you need more just call me and I will arrange the transfer."
"I'm sorry but did you say $70,000."  I was astonished.  When he said he set up an account for me I never imagined such a large sum.
"Yes is that a problem?  I can do a transfer now if you need."
"No, um that is fine."
"Well is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Yes," I said flipping through the papers "I don't see how much the rent will be."
"The rent?"
"Yes for the house."
"Ms. Vinson there isn't any rent.  The papers I handed you are the title to the home.  Mr. Drakul signed it over to you when he set up the account.  You own it."  I could have fallen out of my chair.  I owned it.  After signing a few documents, I thanked Mr. Clark and left.
As I was headed back to my car the phone rang.  I didn't know the number, but I thought it might be him so I answered.
"Hello," I said
"Amari?"  It was a woman's voice on the other end.
"Um, yes may I help you."
"I have a job for you, that is if you are available."  Great I had been applying for jobs for months and now I get a call back.
"I'm sorry, who is this please?" I asked
"My apologies for not introducing myself, my name is Marisol Aberle and I got your number from...a friend."
The pause she had when she said friend instantly made me think this must another communication from Mulo.
"I was told you are an artist." The woman continued.
"That is correct." I replied
"Wonderful, then you are just who I need.  Please come to 120 Beverly Blvd. today at 1:30."
I checked my watch, it was nearly one already.
"OK, I'll be there."  I hung up feeling very excited.  I hadn't seen Mulo in weeks and I was hoping this was just another one of his cryptic messages.  I was really looking forward to seeing him.

  6. Blimey, that is a lot of money :O And no rent?? But that job sounds sketchy.. She didn't tell Amari much over the phone so I'm suspicious.

    1. He set her up nicely. She is effectively a 'kept' woman at this point. I won't say much on the woman on the phone.

      thanks for reading
