Chapter 61-Sex, Lies, and Marriage

I'm sure most men wouldn't do what I have done.  Most men wouldn't be confident enough or crazy enough to propose to let alone marry a woman that was in love with someone else.  I've known since that day I showed up here she was in love with that guy even if she didn't want to admit it to me.  I could see it on her face in and in her body when she spoke of him.  I suspect that's why she would try not to as much as possible.
That love couldn't be hidden when he showed up at the wedding.  Everything about her changed with the simple sound of his voice, then watching them on the dance floor made it even more evident.  Most men would have walked away or caused a scene but I am not most men.  I don't doubt she loves me, it's just not in the same way.  We can't always get a fairytale ending but will all things considered, this was close enough for me.  She was my wife.  I've loved Amari for as long as I could remember.  When she left, she took a piece of me with her and I couldn't fully commit to anyone else for that very reason.  The day she came back into my life I took that as a sign.  Our first night together was everything I imagined it would be and it resulted in her giving me two amazing boys.  Finding out she was pregnant by me was a shock, but it was news that made me happier than I ever dreamed possible.
Marriage is supposed to be based on honesty, love, and respect.  We have the the love and respect covered, but when it comes to honesty there is work to be done.  I look at her and she keeps a smile on her face however when she doesn't think I'm looking I know her mind drifts to a different place.  There is more she is hiding from me, she pretends there isn't and I pretend not to notice.  Pushing her for more isn't really an option when I am just as guilty as she is with holding things back.  I know I need to tell her and at some point I will, there won't be a choice.  Until that time comes I am going to enjoy my life, my family living as if everything is as it should be.

My eyes fluttered open and they were met with the loving smile of my husband.  That word is still foreign to me.
"Why are you watching me sleep?"
"Because you are beautiful." he leaned and gave me a loving kiss on my forehead.
"You're just saying that because I finally agreed to the demands." I replied playfully.
"That may be true as well.  You know I haven't heard the boys yet.  We might have time for..." he trailed off as he moved on top of me.

"Well we are still newlyweds."

"Mom hurry up.  All the best ones will be gone."  Dunham yelled through the door.
Marcus and I were taking the boys to the animal shelter today.  I had finally caved to the peer pressure and agreed to getting them a pet.  Being the only woman in the house I was out numbered and the three of them worked well as a team against me.  I would have been done by now if Marcus hadn't joined me in the shower for round two of the morning.  He's been almost insatiable.  The first few days I thought it was just carry over from the wedding, however now almost two months later he was still going strong.
"Sorry guys.  I'm ready."
"Mom you're such a girl you take forever." Dax complained.

We all piled into the car and headed downtown.  Two hours and almost three hundred dollars later, we returned home with not one but two new pets and all the stuff they need.  Somehow I allowed myself to be talked into two dogs.  Dunham saw Fred and fell in love with him.  The shelter worker started talking to Marcus and I about how he and his mate Wilma were dropped off by their owners because they no longer wanted them.  It was heartbreaking, and when the three of them learned of Wilma I had three sets of gorgeous green eyes all pleading with me to say yes to her as well.

We were now the proud owners of two three year old Weimaraners.  I had my reservations still, but Marcus assured me this would teach the boys responsibility.
They were so excited when I agreed and then went over board at the pet store buying all the supplies, beds, toys, a dog house.  It all added up quickly but seeing their happy faces was well worth it.

"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For saying yes to both dogs.  I know you were on the fence still, and wanted a small dog."
Smiling I looked over at the boys brushing away. "With the way the three of you ganged up on me, how could I refuse."

Marcus pulled me into an embrace.  I knew the look in his eyes before he even spoke.  "You know the boys will be busy for a little while.  I think we could sneak away for a few minutes."
"That will be the third time today." I whispered
He just winked at me as he took my hand and led me to our room.

Laying on the bed I watched as he got re dressed.
"Enjoying the show?" he asked
"Most certainly."
"Now that the house in Riverview has sold we should look into buying a place instead of continuing to pay rent here."

He sat down next to me on the bed and I changed positions to face him.
"I like it here.  Couldn't we just re decorate instead?"
"You want to put money into re doing a house that isn't ours?  That doesn't make good business sense Amari."
His phone started buzzing before I could reply.  Marcus' whole body changed when he looked at the caller id.

He walked out of the room without saying a word to me before he answered it.  I heard the soft clicking of his office door closing.  He had never left the room to take a call before.  I guess whatever was going on at work must have been really important.  I rolled off the bed to redress.  I needed to check on the boys but I heard them and the dogs running around the living room.  I stepped over to my dresser, pausing to listen for Marcus before digging the papers from the back of my drawer.

Running my hand across them I gingerly fingered the note that was attached to them.

A present for you and your new husband
~M
They arrived in the mail about 2 weeks after the wedding.  The moment I read them it all made sense as to why the rent for this place was so low.  He owned the house.  He wasn't going to let me be on my own even after I moved out of the first house he had bought for me.  I was now the proud owner of not one but two homes he had given me.  All the money I had paid in rent was funneled back into the original account he had set up for me.  We lived in his house, we drove his car.  I needed to tell Marcus the real reason I didn't want to move but I knew it would only cause him to be angry and want to move even more.  I replaced the papers before walking into the bathroom.  I made sure to lock the door before pulling out my phone.
"Hello." just hearing his voice gave me feelings of excitement and guilt.
"Hi.  I um wanted to talk to CeCe."
I swear I could almost see the smile on his face when he spoke.
"If that were true you wouldn't call at an hour that's so late here and you would have called her phone and not mine."  I gnawed on my lower lip not wanting to admit to myself that what he said was true.
"You don't have to make up excuses to talk to me.  I do have your daughter, that alone should give you a plausible explanation for your husband."
Ignoring the goosebumps that were on my arms, I continued on.  "How is she?"
"She doesn't remember him or anything he did to her."  All of the playfulness was drained from his voice.
"What about the baby."
"As much as it disgusts me to see her growing with his child, it's still there.  She believes she is a surrogate for a couple here in France.  She doesn't know she's it's mother."
The feelings of guilt hit me again.  The thought of what she went through because of me then having to have her not know the existence of her own child.  I was a terrible mother for allowing that as well, but I couldn't bear the thought that she would have to live with those memories.
"Thank you again for agreeing to do that."
"No need to thank me.  I didn't want her to remember and I would have done it even without you asking."
In the background I heard a woman's voice calling him back to bed.  As irrational as it sounds, jealously hit me like a ton of bricks.  I knew he wouldn't be sitting around waiting for me but knowing he was with someone other than me made me angry, and hurt.
"I need to go attend to my guest."  His playful tone had returned.  I wondered if he knew what that knowledge did to me best guess was he did.
"Mulo, the news says David is missing.  Did you have anything to do with that?"
My question was met with silence.
"Goodnight my love." then he disconnected the call.
Taking a few deep breaths to steady my nerves, I exited the room in search of my family.

Death of David

To all my wonderful readers and David haters I dedicate this installment to you.   Thanks to Daijahvu for her help with this chapter.  All of the warehouse pictures are her amazing work.  Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and suggestions on how this should happen.  I hope you all enjoy!

****WARNING THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS COARSE LANGUAGE
AND VIOLENCE*******

I can’t believe that bitch left me.  Her and my mother weren’t even worth my time.  She wasn’t even good in bed.  Now they got me put on desk duty pending an investigation for conduct unbecoming of an officer, what a fucking joke.  I can’t go within 1000 feet of her or the family.  The guys at the job now give me dirty looks, the women whisper behind my back.  I have been turned into a pariah at my job like I did something wrong.  They both should have been lucky I even bothered giving her a second look.  Good for nothing cunts, all of them.
“Hey bartender, pour me another.”
“I think you’ve had enough.”
“I said pour me another fucking drink!”
“I suggest you leave now before I call the police.”
I laughed throwing my empty glass against the wall.
“I am the fucking police.”
Angrily I stumbled off the bar stool heading towards the door.  I spent most of my nights at one dive bar or another.  No reason to go home since that bitch left, I couldn’t even get laid that was always great stress relief at the end of the day.
“I’ll get you a drink.”  I turned in the direction of the sultry voice.  I watched as the heavenly creature glided towards me.  Yeah I still got it.  She sauntered over to the bartender returning moments later with two drinks.

Her lips teased the rim of the glass as she watched me down my drink in one gulp.
“You want to go somewhere more private?” she whispered in my ear
“Hell yes.”  We stepped outside things went black.

When I awoke I was tied to a chair.  The woman from the bar was watching me but she wasn’t alone.
“You bitch!” I spat “Do you have any idea who you are fucking with.”
Both women looked at each other letting out laughter that sounded like music.
“So you like to hurt women.  Does that make you a big man?”  The newcomer spoke prancing towards me.
“Let me out of this chair and I’ll show you just how big.”  In the blink of an eye she was on my lap digging her nails into my shoulders.  I grimaced at the pain.
“You like causing others pain.  How does that feel?” she hissed.  Just as quickly the woman from the bar was behind me.  She yanked my hair pulling my neck back so far I thought she would pull it off my body.
“What are you doing you crazy bitch?” I asked through clenched teeth
“Letting you feel the same level of pain and fear you caused her to suffer.”  The one on my lap dug her nails in even deeper causing me to bleed.  The pressure was so intense, if I didn’t know better I could have sworn she was strong enough to crush both my shoulders with her bare hands.
“Suffer..” I said panting through the pain “The only one who will suffer will be you and your friend.  You two are all tough with me tied to a chair, let me free and see what happens.”  There was no way I was going to let two worthless cunts get the better of me.  My bravado only brought laughter to their lips, but in one quick movement the ropes were cut and they had fled to the other side of the room.
“Already running scared I see.”  I stood up and ran towards them, but they moved before I could reach them.  They had lightening fast reflexes, but they couldn’t run forever.  As I turned around the newcomer was standing in my face.
“You like to hit women.  Take your best shot.” She taunted me I swung a punch but she dodged it and I stumbled into the arms of the other one.

They took turns punching me and bouncing me back and forth a little. My face was on fire by the time they finished and I could taste more blood in my mouth. My lip was split and my head was throbbing.  I wildly attempted another punch but again she dodged it but instead of hitting me again she had me in a choke hold.
“Is that the hand you hit my sister with?”
“Sister, what sister?”
“Ceula you bastard.” She yelled shoving me to the ground.  The one from the bar appeared and stepped on my hand.

I couldn’t help but to scream out in pain as she ground my hand into the floor like she was putting out a cigarette.  The pain of my bones being crushed was more than anything I had ever experienced before.
“Not such a big man now are you?” she asked squatting down beside me.
“You crazy bitch, you broke my hand.”
“Your hand is just the beginning.  Ceula is my friend and I love her like a sister.  You will face the same fear you caused her all those months.”
I tried to crawl away scrambling across the dirty floor towards the door.  I glanced behind me and they were just standing there watching me.  When I turned back around they were standing in front of me.
“Going somewhere?’
Their eyes glowed and when they smiled, they revealed fangs.
“What the fuck are you?”
“Payback!”
The one from the bar grabbed me up.  I screamed out as her teeth roughly cut through the flesh on my arm.  The other one bit into my neck.  The pain was so extreme I thought I was going to blackout.  I was so scared as they feasted on me I pissed my pants.
“You…you can’t kill me.  I’m a cop you’d get the death penalty.”
“What makes you think they will even find your body?”  That was a man’s voice stepping out of the shadows.  They dropped me as he approached.
“You have to help me.”  I begged.  “They are monsters, or cannibals or both. They…they”
“Aren’t going to be the one to finish you off, I will.”  When he knelt down beside me he had the same glowing eyes and fangs that they had but with a much more menacing look.  With a flick of his wrist I was sent sailing through the air across the room.  I hit the wall then landed in a crumbled pile on the floor.
“You have hurt my family and that won’t be tolerated.”  He picked me up by the neck, I gasped for air as his fingers curled tighter around my throat.  “You did unspeakable things to my daughter.  You tormented her and her mother.  Both those women mean more than your worthless existence.”  He threw me straight down to the ground with such force it shattered my ankles.

I looked around frantically for help of any kind. That’s when I noticed a set of legs off in the corner. I pulled myself on my elbows as fast as I could over to them. With surprise, my torturers let me. I spit out the metallic- tasting blood from my mouth. I felt light headed from the blood lost, but I had to get to the legs. They were my only hope. My pace began to slow until I had finally reach my destination.
The legs were clad in a pair of black jeans. I look up to the man that sat in the chair. His calm, placid demeanor was nearly as frightening as that of the menacing ones the others wore.  When he finally looked at me, it was one of utter disgust. Meeting his eyes I knew there was no hope of me getting out of here alive, but I had to at least try.
“P…Please h…help me.” I stuttered.
The man simply leaned forward from his seat, “You won't find any help here.  I’m above taking a life, but I’m not above watching one end.”
With that he pushed me with his foot, breaking one of my ribs in the process, I was sent sliding back across the floor.  I cried out in pain and desperation. I had no help anywhere. I felt utterly hopeless. I was a dead man.

The other man walked over to where I lay in a huddled heap on the floor.  Bloodied, broken bones I prayed for death to be quick.  Ceula’s sister appeared next to him.  Rolling me onto my back with her foot she stepped on my crotch, slowly at first but the pressure increased gradually.  The pain was all consuming as I was overcome with the feeling that my balls were going to pop like balloons until they finally did.  I couldn’t even scream, it was a paralyzing excruciating pain that shot through my body.

She along with the one from the bar went and stood by the man in the chair.  The first man took my head in his hand, pulling me up to stare directly into his eyes.
“I want you to know that after this night you no longer exist in her life.  She won’t think of you, or even remember you were ever in her life.  That demon seed you planted inside her will also be taken care of.  There will be no trace of you.”
“I’m, I’m sorry.  Please have mercy.”
“Sorry, all out of mercy.”

I could have squeezed his head until it popped like a pimple.  I looked into his eyes I wanted my face to be the last thing he saw. I stared at him he was such a weak insignificant being.  I was disgusted at the images of the things he had done to her.  I was furious that someone like him had ever laid a hand on her.    He smelled of piss, and although the scent of his blood lingered in the air, I didn’t want anything of his running through my veins.
“You are a cockroach and I will put you out of your miserable existence now.” I snapped his neck then let his lifeless body fall to the ground.
“What will we do with the body?” Aric inquired
“Burn it.”

Chapter 60-Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Today was my wedding day.  In a few short hours I would no longer be Amari Vinson but instead Mrs. Amari Smith.  I lay awake most of last night tossing and turning.  Marcus and the boys had stayed with Aric and Nina.  He couldn't see the bride before the wedding he said.  I should be happy, excited, nervous but I'm not.  I'm scared, and guilty, and ashamed.
"Mom hurry up." Ceula yelled knocking on the door.  The girls and I had appointments at the salon.
"Sorry.  I'm ready."

"This is going to be so much fun mom.  We have arranged a complete make over for you.  You are not going to recognize yourself when you're done."
"I'm looking forward to it.  Have you talked to your brother?  How are the boys?"
Bynni rolled her eyes.  "I'm sure they're fine mom.  Besides Nina will fill you in on everything when we see her."

Spending some carefree time with my girls was fun.  We didn't mention Ceula's pregnancy or any of the horrendous events that had taken place over the last few months.  We talked about hair and make up and fun girly things.  Three hours later we were leaving the salon headed back to the house to get dressed.  In two hours I was going be be marrying a wonderful loving man, yet my thoughts were on another.

We arrived at the location and the setting couldn't have been more perfect.  It was a beautiful day.  The arrangements looked like something from a magazine.  Aric walked up behind me.
"Are you ready for this mom?"
"Yes of course."
"Well lets get going.  They are playing your song."  I placed my arm through his and we walked down the aisle together.  Marcus look so happy and at peace standing there waiting for me.  Bynni and Ceula looked gorgeous in their dresses.  Dax and Dunham were very handsome in their tuxes.  This should be the best day of my life.

"You look amazing" Marcus whispered when I reached him.  Aric took his place, there was no turning back now.

Marcus was first to say his vows.
My beloved Amari,
romance may fade, but true love endures.
I choose to truly love you
with kindness, faithfulness, and respect,
through every circumstance that life may bring.

Many people may not believe this but I do believe in soul mates.
From the moment I first saw you I knew you were the one for me.
Today I will marry you, my friend, my lover, my soul mate.
You are the love of my life and with each breath I take I love you more.
With this ring I promise my love for you will have no end.

I was moved my his vows to me.  In return loving words should have flowed as easily from my lips.  I was overcome with emotion but not for the reasons I'm sure the believed.  I looked into his loving eyes and there I saw such tenderness and devotion.  I sighed deeply, closed my eyes and began to speak.

My dearest Marcus,
I like you believe in soul mates.  That there is one person
in the world that will love you for all eternity.  A person
that no matter what obstacles you face, you know that
your love will always bring you back together in the end.
From this day forward I will live as your wife.  With each passing
day I will work to make myself worthy of your undying love
and devotion.  With you by my side all things in life seem
possible.  With this ring I vow to love, honor and
cherish our life as husband and wife.

The tears slip down my cheeks as I slipped the ring on his finger.  He had such happiness on his face before we shared our first kiss as husband and wife.

The guests erupted in applause.  Both mom and Lilian were crying as well as the girls.  Things past as a blur after that.  Pictures were taken, guests kept coming to congratulate us.

"You are so beautiful Mrs. Smith."
"Why thank you Mr. Smith."
We stood there watching the party around us.  I found myself staring off at the ocean when I felt Marcus's arms tighten around me.

"May I have a dance with the bride?"

My breath caught in my chest as I turned to see him standing there.  A slow smile crept onto his face.  I could only imagine what Marcus was thinking.  I gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"It's ok.  It's only a dance." Marcus reluctantly released me as Mulo put his hand out for me and led me onto the dance floor.  As soon as I made contact with him my whole body tingled.  I tried in vain to keep space between us but as the music started he circled his arms around my waist pulling me close to him.

Don't you Remember (song Amari and Mulo dance to)
I didn't speak.  Being in his arms took me back to the first day we met.  Everything and everyone faded away and I settled closer to him.
"You make a beautiful bride."
"Thank you."
"I've done as you asked.  I put an ocean between us but I couldn't not see you today.  I needed to see you today."

I needed to see him and I was happy he was there, he was the missing piece. We danced in silence.  There was so much I wanted to say to him, but I couldn't let myself but then again I didn't need to speak the words.  He knew.  As the song came to an end, he spoke again.
"Those were very touching vows you spoke.  You are right, I will love you for all eternity as only a vampire can."  he leaned in to kiss me, I wanted the kiss but I knew it would be dangerous to let him.  He was so close, his lips practically touching mine yet he was so far away.  He smiled.

"This is where I say good night Mrs. Smith.  Your husband is thinking not so nice thoughts about me right now."
I stepped back to compose myself as Marcus walked over.
"Congratulations Marcus you have yourself a truly magnificent woman.  Treat her better than I have." I glanced up to see the pain in his eyes.  We held the gaze for only seconds but it felt like hours.  He turned and walked away.

Later as I prepared myself for my wedding night my thoughts drifted back to Mulo.

"Are you ok?"
"Yes I just want to make sure I'm perfect for you." I replied snapping back to present.
"I am a lucky man and you couldn't be any more perfect for me."

I tugged at the skimpy nighty Bynni had bought for me.  It wasn't something I would normally wear but she insisted I try something different.

"Stop fidgeting, you look stunning.  Besides it won't be on for long anyway." he said giving me a devilish grin.  Marcus scooped me up into his arms and carried me over to the bed.

We spent an amazing night together.  It had been a while since it was just the two of us and we took full advantage.
