Chapter 26-Confrontation

Jesse came over the next morning.
"Hey I didn't expect you this early."
"I thought we needed a chance to finish our talk."
"Right...of course."  with it just being the two of us in the house there was no reason for him to hold back on his pent up anger.
"Jesse, I know you're angry with me."  I was so nervous.  I don't remember ever being this nervous around him before.
"I should have told you sooner about her.  I was doing what I thought was best for everyone.  You could have a clean break from me and...well things started going wrong with Bynni.  She was so angry with me and acting out.  She was upset over the lack of a father and I realized with her how wrong I was.  Well she actually pointed out how wrong I was for not telling you so I sent you the email.  I've done this all wrong and I know it seems I was trying to keep her from you but really I was just trying to let you be free of me."
I was babbling.  I just couldn't stop talking once I had started.  I had so much to say, I needed him to understand my actions.  He didn't say anything.  Why wasn't he speaking, I needed him to speak so I didn't keep standing there looking and feeling like such a fool.
"Do you want some coffee or something to eat?" I said as I turned to leave the room.  I had to get out of the room away from his silence and accusing looks.  I was barely holding it together willing myself to not cry.
"I was going to propose to you that day." he finally spoke.  I stopped and turned around.
"What?"
"I wanted to marry you.  I wanted to be a father to your children and maybe have a few of our own.  I was prepared to stop traveling so much."
This isn't happening, I was hearing him wrong.  I had to be hearing him wrong.
"Why are you telling me this?"  I felt the tears on my face, I couldn't hold them back any longer.

"Amari, I"
"Mom, what's wrong?"  I didn't even hear Aric enter the house.
"Get away from her!" he said pushing Jesse to the ground
I had never seen Aric lose his temper.  He was always so calm and controlled.
"Aric I didn't do anything to her." Jesse said picking himself up off the ground.
The look on Aric's face was full of rage.  He looked so much like Mulo at that moment that I was scared of what he might do to Jesse.
"Aric it's ok." I said stepping in front of him.
He didn't look at me, his eyes were fixated on Jesse.
"After what he did to you last time, why would you even let him into the house?"
"What did I do to her?" Jesse exclaimed
"Jesse, don't." I said
"Aric he's here to meet his daughter.  We were just talking and I got upset, but it's ok."
Aric continued to stare at Jesse.
"Aric look at me."  He finally broke eye contact.  "Son please go in the kitchen and get something to eat.  Please."  I could tell he didn't want to leave but he complied.
"What the hell was that all about?  What the hell does he think I did to you to get a reaction like that?"  Jesse was pissed and confused.  I was just as confused.  He had never behaved that way, not even towards his father the night he walked in on us.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what got in to him."
"What did you tell him?"
"Nothing.  After you left I didn't leave my room for three days.  I was devastated after you left.  I know how badly I messed things up and I just didn't want to face anyone.  I guess he remembers how I was and doesn't want to see me like that again."
Jesse didn't speak just walked over and kissed me on my forehead.
"I'll go now but will be back around four."
"Ok."
He left and I went into the kitchen to speak to Aric.
"Mom I'm sorry.  I saw him and remembered how he hurt you when he left last time.  I guess I sorta lost it."
"It's ok son, I understand.  We were just talking about some things and I got emotional."
"I love you mom."
"I know son, I love you too."

  1. I've been reading this the whole morning, and I didn't think it was possible, but I've fallen so head over heels in love with your writing in one day. Beautiful stuff.

I love the relationship dynamics you're creating through the different baby daddies and Amari's relationships with her kids, they are all so different and special in their own ways and the things they go through as a family are so true to life.

I don't know why, but I'm still team Mulo all the way. I think when the challenge is over, with all the babies grown up, it would be nice for her and Amari to end up together.

Did I write a book much? Sorry.
BTW: I co run a forum with a few other writes, it's still a small community of simmers and writers and if you're interested in checking us out, here's a link: http://rebelwritersnirvana.proboards.com/index.cgi

I use my real name over there, Freedom. Hope to see you there :)

  5. Aric is just awesome! I absolutely adore him and the way he cares for Amari! I'm glad Jesse understood that she didn't taint him in their eyes he was only reacting because of how broken she felt over his loss.

    Wow...

I hope they can mend fences!

  6. Did I ever tell you I'm in love with Aric...10 points for him for sticking up for his mom (even though he overreacted) somebody's gotta love her unconditionally and protect her.
