I let out a small sigh of content as I ran my fingers through Marcus’ hair while his head rested on my belly. From the moment I told him I was pregnant he’d barely let me do anything. I was lucky if I could walk to the bathroom on my own since he tried to carry me most places. I knew he was nervous because of the miscarriages Florence had, and I had my own history of high risk pregnancies, so I tried not to complain too much. Plus I liked being pampered; it had been a long time since anyone had taken care of me. The kids took the news of the new arrival just fine. They really were happy to have their father in their lives. Marcus wasn’t her dad, but he didn’t treat Finley any differently, in fact they had a really close relationship.
“What’d you say?” Marcus asked
breaking the silence. I looked down at him with a frown.
“I didn’t say anything babe.”
“Shh, I wasn’t talking to you. I’m
talking to my son.”
“Oh ok.” I replied laughing “and
son?”
“Yes son, looking at my track
record I’m pretty sure this will be another boy. Now if you don’t mind I need
to get back to my conversation.”
“Oh well…” I said shoving his head
to the side “excuse me for interrupting. Just pretend I’m not here.” I finished
turning on my side so that my back was to him.
Marcus moved up pulling me into his
arms. “I could never do that.” He said kissing my neck softly. “Besides our
conversation was about you.”
“So not only am I not allowed in on
this conversation, you two are talking about me.” I replied with a playful
pout.
“Yep.” Marcus replied before
kissing the tip of my nose. He got off the bed and before I could even ask what
he was doing, he was back beside me. “What’s the saying? Third time’s a charm.”
I looked at him confused then he
sat the blue velvet box down on my stomach. I stared at the box too afraid to
touch it. The smile that was on his face started to fade the longer I didn’t
respond in the manner he was expecting.
“Marcus. I…I don’t know what to
say.”
“Yes would be appropriate.” He
replied sitting up.
Marcus now looked at me with a
worried expression on his face and I just turned to my side and started crying.
“Somehow I don’t think these are
tears of happiness.” He said quietly as he curled up behind me.
I turned and buried my face in his
chest. Marcus held me, softly stroking my hair, patiently waiting on me to calm
down.
“Baby tell me what’s wrong.”
“I…I can’t.” I said between
sniffles.
“Yes you can. You can tell me
anything.”
“No, I…I can’t marry you.”
Marcus pulled away from me then. I
started crying again when I saw the hurt expression on his face.
“And why can’t you marry me? I
thought this is what you wanted. Me back, us back and now you’re saying no.” I could hear the hurt and confusion in his tone.
“I do and it is what I want, but…”
“But what?”
“Something bad has happened. Each
time and I don’t want any more bad with us.”
Marcus turned to look at me still
looking confused, but not as upset as he was. “Baby you aren’t making any
sense.”
“The first time we were married I
nearly lost you because of my own stupidity and your cancer. The second time I
did lose you. So…”
My explanation was cut off by
Marcus kissing me. “So that’s why they say third time’s a charm.” He finished
for me with a smile. “I want you as my wife, again, Amari. Things are different
now, I’m different now. And I’m home
to stay.”
Marcus looked at me intently making
sure I understood him. I wished I could be as confident as he was about us, but
with all the bad I’ve had to endure, I couldn’t help but to have doubts.
Marisol was out there still with the sole purpose of making my life miserable,
and I still worried about Mulo. He hadn’t been around but I found that fact to
be less comforting than when he was poking around. At least then I knew what he
was up to. But then I looked at Marcus,
through it all somehow we managed to end up together again, that had to mean
something as well. He, along with my children, were the good things in my life
and I needed to embrace that, not be fearful of it.
“So.” I said wiping the tears from
my face. 'third time’s a charm?' That’s the proposal you came up with?” I asked
rolling my eyes.
“Yep.” He replied with a smile.
“Well put it on.” I replied
sticking my hand out.
“Put it on? That’s the best answer
you can give?” Marcus said smiling as he slid the ring on my finger.
“Yep.”

Ok yes I know it's short, so sorry! I promise to make it up to you in the next chapter. (possibly) Consider this a bit of an intermission as I work to plan out the final chapters. But it's a happy intermission so hopefully that will take the sting off the shortness. :D
Also thank you Mypalsim for the opening shot pose. It worked out perfectly and I just love it!
I forgive you for the length.
ReplyDeleteSavor it... It might be the only time a short chapter makes me happy! Maybe I should forbid short-Marcus-chapters. I need time to take him in and it takes a while so...
I reread a few of the early chapters when this was still a baby-challenge. Now I know why Marcus never stood out for me. Apart from the fact that he was just a baby-daddy at the time that I DIDN'T need to get attached to, LOL. He looks WAYYYYY different. I only noticed him with his new do!
Did you change his and Amari's looks - CCskin-wise?? Because even she looks different now!
LOL, fun fact!
DeleteIf this was still a baby-challenge and Amari had a baby every chapter, you'd have 106 now :P
Talk about overachieving! Hihi...
hahaha on your fun fact. I'd be done at 100 if I had gone with the one baby per chapter. No overachieving here. :P
DeleteI answered the looks thing on FB
so thank you for forgiving the short length. I thought about adding to it, but I think the proposal was better all on its own. More time to stare at the pictures and soak in Marcus. :D
Thanks for reading
Aw, what a sweet update. I can understand Amari's fears about getting married, but she's been through enough bad to last her a lifetime. It's time for some sunshine and rainbows.
ReplyDeletethanks. Marriage has not worked out for her, so she did have fears. Marcus however was not ready to let fears stand in his way. So yes a bit of the much needed sunshine and rainbows.
DeleteThanks for reading.
Aww that's so sweet! And WOOT WOOT! Marcus and Amari back together again! I couldn't be happier. I gotta admit though, I lol'd at "son" I mean, how wrong can you be Marcus? If you see your track record for boys then SURELY you see your track record for MULTIPLE boys! I know that 2nd, 3rd and 4th baby in Amari's stomach right now has got to be hurt (unless now they are arguing over which one you were referring to!)
ReplyDeleteThis was a very sweet chapter. Can't wait for the wedding! HAHAHAHA and you thought you could avoid that. Nice try Mica, nice try.
yes that man knows where home is! He's loved that woman for a long time and even vampire compulsion and witch craft wouldn't stand in his way. :D
Deleteum I don't know what you are talking about. 2, 3, and 4???? Marcus said SON AS IN 1!!!!! Don't you think with his super vamp hearing he would be able to pick up on the multiple heartbeats. :P
aww thanks. It is nice to write some good stuff for Amari for a change. I've put that poor woman through a lot. And who said the wedding would be on screen? I can get around that and just skip to the honeymoon. :D
Thanks for reading
Tell her Deej!
DeletePff, trying to out-talk us. I'm sure ONE of them is the son he thinks is in there! Along with his brother and 2 sisters :P
hahahaha....you guys are determined to have multiples, but it's really the mother not the father that decides that. So why you are both talking about Marcus' super sperm, unless Amari dropped more than one egg there is only one baby in there. LOL or two eggs would both have to split. Now because she was a twin, her chances of multiples are greater, but she has had single births as well.
Deletebut you guys can keep rooting for the quads. :D
That was so cute! I don't mind the shortness at all because it was another happy chapter. I wonder if Marcus's vampire powers will allow him to actually see what the sex of the baby is lol. The proposal was nice. I was afraid she was really going to stick with no, but I'm glad he convinced her otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks. :) It was a fun happy chapter. Marcus knows who he wants and what he wants in his life. He has a second chance with the woman he loves and he's not about to let that go. LOL no he can't really tell the sex, but I'm sure the ultrasound will ;) we'll see if he was right or not. LOL
DeleteHe wasn't going to let her say no. :D No worries there.
Thanks for reading.
They are so in love with each other. I hope that they have some quiet time before everything goes haywire again :)
ReplyDeleteThey are very much in love. Hopefully they will have time to just enjoy each other and being a family again before anything bad happens.
DeleteThat pose looks great!
ReplyDeleteI was so worried when Amari said no the first time! I was almost going to get really mad that she was going to do something to ruin everything Again to be Ms Martyr. :P But, she didn't! Yay! She came around. Good ol' Marcus talking some sense into that woman!
Short but sweet. I liked it! :)
yes! Thanks again for making it.
DeleteShe had a small panic attack considering all she's been through. Marcus wasn't about to let her tell him no, especially after she stated her reasons as to why. :)
Glad you liked it, I promise to make the next one longer.
I can understand why she said no at first, but I'm glad she came around. I'm happy things are going so well for her too, she definitely deserves some happiness. :D Short but sweet, I think I can live with the shortness in this case. :D
ReplyDeleteyes she had a momentary freak out moment but Marcus talked her down off the ledge. She is very deserving of some happiness, let's hope it lasts.
DeleteI was hoping the content of the chapter would be enough to over look the length.
Nice update... And jippee she's pregnant..
ReplyDeletethanks and yes she is pregnant again. :D
DeleteShe'd better say yes!
ReplyDeleteThird times a charm and well put it on..gotta be the best proposal and answer ever=)...edenz~
LOL she didn't want to at first, but come on. Look at Marcus, how could she stick to no? LOL
Deletehahahaha, I loved that proposal, it fits them :D
thanks for reading
At first I was upset with Amari for saying, no, but after she explained I definitely understood her hesitation. I'm so happy that Marcus knew just what to say though!
ReplyDeleteThe romantic in me is so happy! You know how much I love Amari! :)
yeah...they've had bad luck with marriage so she's right to be scared. Marcus however is not willing to let her off the hook that easily.
Delete:) glad this made you happy! I try to add in those sweet romantic moments.
thanks for reading
I'm with Amari, while it's great that they managed to find a way back to each other after everything I don't trust that it's just going to go smoothly and they'll live happily every after :/ Marisol will find a way to mess things up :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, their marriages haven't gone well so Amari has a lot of reasons to be worried. :( Sadly you are right, there is always an obstacle in their way, and Marisol is a huge one! Hopefully they can get their happily ever after.
Deletethanks for reading
